Takeaway

A fresh tropical sparkling wine from Brazil that feels fun, lively, and totally unexpected.

First Thought

This was the crews first time tasting wine from Brazil and their first look at what Brazilian sparkling can be. Antonio Mata, founder and COO of Bom Dia Brazilian Bubbles, joined the episode and shared the story behind the wine while the hosts tasted it with him.

They knew going in that Bom Dia was designed to feel tropical, fun and approachable, and Antonio talked about his goal of helping Brazilian bubbles stand as their own category. The excitement of trying something totally new set the stage before the bottle was even opened.

Tasting NOtes

Right away the wine smells clean and bright with citrus and a clear tropical edge. Pineapple shows up fast, and once Antonio mentions passion fruit the hosts recognize it immediately. There is also a light floral lift and a subtle bready note that surprised them for a Charmat method sparkling.

On the palate the bubbles are tiny and smooth, closer to classic champagne than the big fizz people expect from tank method. The wine is crisp, refreshing and fruity without feeling sweet. The finish stays fresh with citrus and tropical fruit lingering in a mouthwatering way.

Highlights

Why It’s Special
Brazil is the third largest producer of sparkling wine in South America, but most of it never leaves the country. Bom Dia is helping create an entirely new category: Brazilian Bubbles.

What’s Inside
A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown in the far south of Brazil where the latitude mirrors Champagne. That cool climate gives the wine its acidity and balance.

When to Pour It
Anytime you want something festive but different from the usual Champagne or Prosecco. It feels tropical enough for summer but refreshing enough for year round sipping.

Price Check
Depending on where you find it, bottles range from about 20 to 35 dollars. Cans are also available, each one equal to a third of a bottle, a smart and colorful option for parties or picnics.
